Siliguri Lion’s Club inaugurates special eye care clinic

Siliguri Police Commissioner K Jayaraman today inaugurated a special eye clinic named ICARE at Hill Cart Road. ICARE is an initiative of the members of Siliguri Greater Lions Club. Eminent social activist Bhagwati Prasad Bajaj was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. 

According to the Lion’s Club, the clinic will offer state-of-the-art equipment manned by three doctors, an outlet for optical lenses and a contact lens clinic. Besides treating cataract, ICARE will provide for retina checkup and child eye care facilities. Retina specialist Somenath Chakraborty, child eye care specialist Ashish Bichpuria and other opticians will be offering their services at ICARE.

Speaking on the occasion, project representatives said blindness is a major health disorder in India and special provisions to treat eye problems such as diabetic retinopathy and childhood blindness, among others are the need of the time. Lion’s Club secretary Pradip Agarwal, Chairman PK Shah and eye specialists Somenath Chakraborty and A Bisperia were present at the inauguration.
