Tribal body reaffirms commitment to Naga unity
Kohima, Feb 8 /--/ The apex tribal council of Sumi Nagas has extended support to the campaign of Forum for Naga Re-conciliation (FNR) 'Journey of Common Hope'. Sumi Hoho president Hokishe Yepthomi said in a press release that the Hoho (council) reaffirmed support to the endeavour of FNR struggling for unity, understanding and re-conciliation among the Naga political (underground) groups for a consensus to present a unified voice on the prolonged Naga political conflict.   HE appreciated the NSCN (I-M) chairman Issac Chishi Swu, GPRN/NSCN chief S S Khaplang and NNC/FGN president S Singnya for signing the Covenant of Re-conciliation.       The Hoho reaffirmed its commitment for peace, unity and re-conciliation during a joint meeting of FNR and joint working group (JWG) of three underground groups with the Sumi community at a Church at Zunheboto on Saturday.   Maintaining that disunity still prevailed among Naga political groups, Yepthomi said it was because "each group thinks that their rights are bigger than the other group." With an aim to consolidate the re-conciliation process the JWG was formed last year after three groups, two factions of NSCN and NNC/FGN, had signed the covenant of re-conciliation announcing not to fight against each other.
